Bridgeway Island is an established, yet newer, neighborhood in the southern region of West Sacramento. Located in Yolo County, West Sac is transforming quickly from an industrial area to a diverse, thriving city with family-friendly neighborhoods and amenities.
Bridgeway Island sits next to Bridgeway Lakes but has a more intimate feel with the neighborhood being screened by rock walls and surrounded by more lush greenery. Bridgeway Island Elementary School sits at the center of the neighborhood, adjacent to Bridgeway Island Park – a four-acre park with playground, turf area, barbeques, and basketball court.
Parks and family activities are plentiful in the Bridgeway neighborhoods, with Sunset Vista Park (jogging path, playground and turf area) nearby and the Bridgeway Lakes Park and Boathouse defining the area. Residents can take advantage of the 12-acre park and its large baseball diamond, turf area, amphitheater, walking paths, and water play area for hot summer afternoons. A number of classes and recreational activities take place at the Boathouse, including a Spanish for toddlers class and Camp Lakeside (a program for kids in the summer months). A man-made lake with paddleboats broadens the summertime activities.
More activities (and shopping) abound just three quick miles away on Jefferson Blvd. The West Sacramento Recreation Center offers a myriad of yoga, Zumba, bootcamp, cardio, and toning classes. There’s also cardio and circuit training equipment, but the family fun comes in the form of a climbing wall, pool with waterslide and special events like the Soggy Doggy Swim Day for pooches that like to work out.
The center is adjacent to River City High and just down the street is Southport Shopping Center with Target, grocery stores, coffee shops, and restaurants.
